Belgian Tervuren Training: Meet Korra

Korra, a Belgian Tervuren, is a bubbly, high-drive dog with a huge heart for anything she puts her mind to. With a very high toy and food drive, she possesses an impressive nose and medium-high prey drive. Cute as a button, one of my favorite traits about her is her sense of humor in everyday life, showcasing her playful canine behavior.

One of Korra's defining traits is her resilience. She recovers quickly from pressure, accepts fair correction without losing engagement, and immediately returns to work with confidence and clarity. Naturally an independent thinker and worker, she demonstrates a strong willingness to excel when given clear structure. Korra is highly perceptive of subtle handler cues and emotions, showing remarkable awareness and adaptability.

In obedience training, Korra is a flashy, high-twitch dog who thrives on both toy and food rewards. Since she was a puppy, she has had a natural inclination for tracking, displaying a high hunt drive and eagerness to work. Though she leans towards being an independent dog, her strengths in dog training have highlighted her working style—she isn't one to seek reassurance from me as a default.

In protection scenarios, Korra showcases fast-twitch athleticism, grit, and commitment. While she retains strong prey characteristics, her work is fueled more by active aggression than by prey alone. She exhibits the confidence to remain engaged through conflict and pressure, staying thoughtful and functional in both her guarding and biting tasks.

Outside of work, Korra is easy to live with. She's quiet in the car, clean in her crate, and has never been destructive; she's not a nuisance barker either. This Belgian Tervuren is always ready to spring into action—something I absolutely love about her. However, it required some dog training to teach her an off-switch. Socially, she is appropriately aloof with strangers but shows deep affection to those she knows well.

Korra is driven, full of personality, loves being involved in everything that happens around her, and brings a serious side when needed, all while maintaining a humorous touch in everything she does.
